Cape Lookout Shipwreck Map. Here is an overview
of the Cape Lookout Shipwreck wall map suitable
for framing.
This chart shows the shipwrecks around Cape Lookout, the
second of the three North Carolina Capes, and the southern portion of the Outer
Banks.
Many of the wrecks here occurred during World War II when this area was known
as "Torpedo Alley" due to the large number of ships sunk by German U-boats
during 1942.
Recently, the Queen Anne's Revenge, the flagship of the Pirate
Blackbeard was discovered off Beaufort Inlet and this ship is shown on the
latest revision of this chart, which is very popular with summer visitors and
scuba divers. Also included are sketches and information about the famous lighthouses of
the Outer Banks.
